IKOM (CONVERSEER) – A clash between two rival cult groups has claimed the lives of two people in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Converseer gathered that the clash between two confraternities, KK and Vikings, started last week, resulting in the death of one person known as Alobi Nsor on Saturday night (12th July), and another identified only as Ubong on Wednesday night (16th July). One person is in a critical condition.

According to a reliable source, the first victim was killed in Okuni while the second was killed in Akam, all in Olulumo ward in Ikom.

“It’s a clash between two confraternities – KK and Vikings. Vikings have killed two Klan men.

“The first guy was killed on Saturday around 10 PM while the second was killed last night.

“The first was killed in Okuni while the second was killed in Akam, both of Olulumo ward in Ikom LGA,” the source said.

The source added that, “One person is being hospitalised. This is the first time we are experiencing death from cultism in Olulumo land.”

When contacted on the phone on Thursday, SP Irene Ugbo-Obase, Police Public Relations Officer, Cross River State Command, confirmed the news, adding that a tactical team was mobilised as soon as the information got to the command and the situation was under control.

“We are aware of the situation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid Afegbua, has sent a tactical team to the area. They are on the ground, trying to make sure the area is calm,” Ugbo said.

The Police spokesperson further said that Ikom has been very calm as they have been able to tame cultism in the area in the past, adding, “We will make sure we get those involved in the killings arrested.”
