Doctor Kidnapped in Anambra

A medical doctor with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, Anambra State, Dr Collinus Onuigbo, has been abducted by unknown gunmen in the state. On Tuesday, January 22.

 

The abduction comes barely three days after the launch of the joint security force, Operation Udo ga-achị, meaning, Peace must reign, in the state, by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, as part of his administration’s strategic move to combat crimes and restore lasting peace and security in the state.

 

According to reports, Onuigbo who is a neurosurgeon, was kidnapped in front of his residence, a few meters away from the Teaching Hospital. Residents claim the victim’s family members had remained restless since after the incident, and had been making efforts to secure his release, unhurt.

 

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, that the command was on the matter and had already mobilised operations for the possible rescue of the victim and apprehension of the suspects.
