BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed a Cross Riverian, Emmanuel Agogo, as his Senior Special Adviser (SSA).

Converseer reports that Agogo’s appointment was contained in a letter of appointment signed by Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), on Tuesday.

“I write to inform you that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved your appointment as Senior Special Adviser to the Governor with effect from April 15, 2025,” the appointment letter read in part.

Converseer further reports that Agogo, also known as Agogo the Towncrier, hails from Obudu Local Area of Cross River State but has spent most his life in Edo.

Commenting on the appointment, Eugene Upah, former aide to former Governor Ben Ayade, disclosed that Agogo contributed to Okpebholo’s victory in 2024 through the new media.

“Agogo’s works continued even after the election, as he effectively became the unofficial master of ceremonies for the Governor’s project inspections. He consistently laid ambush at project sites and on return trips, to show support.

“As someone who believes in recognising people’s efforts and I’m pleased to see Agogo’s dedication rewarded with a placement in Governor Okpebholo’s administration.”
