NEW JERSEY (CONVERSEER) – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have taken Real Madrid to the waters, thrashing them 4-0 in the second semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup (FCWC).
The win means the European Champions will face the UEFA Conference League winners, Chelsea, in the final on Sunday, 13th July 2025.
Classified as the biggest match of the tournament, Madrid slumped in the first 24 minutes, following defensive errors which PSG capitalised on and punished the 15-time Champions League winners.
PSG started on the front foot following an eight-minute delay to the kick-off, with Fabian Ruiz testing Thibaut Courtois in the early minutes of play.
The Spaniard then opened the scoring in the 6th minute following a defensive error from Madrid defender, Raul Ascensio, who was brought in to replace the suspended Dean Huijsen.
Another defensive mistake from Antonio Rudiger gifted Ousmane Dembele a chance to double the lead, and the starboy took it so well, beating Courtois to make it 2-0 in the 9th minute of play.
The French side made it three through Ruiz in the 24th minute to take the game beyond the reach of the Spanish side.
Dembele almost made it four in the added time of the first half – Courtois to the rescue for Madrid – picking a knock which he recovered from at the start of the second half.
PSG started the second half on the front foot and Desire Doue scored in the 48th after receiving a square pass from Dembele but the latter was rightly flagged offside.
Substitute Gonzalo Ramos put the icing on the cake in the 88th minute for PSG after Madrid tried to get a consolation goal.
The Portuguese paid tribute to his international teammate, Diogo Jota, who passed away last week, with his celebrations.
Honesty, it was one of the worst matches Real Madrid have played in recent times. They have only one choice now – pack their loads and return to Spain, or stay in the stands and watch PSG take on Chelsea in the final.
Luiz Henrique will be so proud of his team, while Xabi Alonso needs to go back to the drawing board, or else his team may end up like last season, without a trophy, if they continue to play like this.
