Ghana’s Government to Investigate Suspicious Aircraft Amid Drug Trafficking Concerns

by Editorial Team
2 April 2025
in News

Ghana’s President John Mahama has directed National Security and relevant authorities to conduct a full-scale investigation into two aircraft that landed in Ghana earlier in March and later departed for Gran Canaria, Spain, on March 25.

The directive follows concerns raised by the Minority in Parliament, who suspect the flights—an air ambulance and a private jet—may have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

Air MED flight L823 AM, an air ambulance, landed in Ghana on March 20 and remained for five days without transporting any patient, raising suspicions.

A private jet, Antonov 12B, arrived on March 12 and departed on March 25, the same day as the air ambulance.

The Minority’s Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, John Ntim Fordjour, raised the issue, urging authorities to investigate the flights.

President Mahama has ordered security agencies to fully collaborate with Fordjour, ensuring he provides all necessary information to investigate the allegations and expose any drug-related activities.

He emphasized that transparency and accountability are critical to safeguarding national security.
