Ghana’s Parliament has approved a GH¢4 billion budget for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs for the 2025 fiscal year.
The funds will cover allowances for assembly members and traditional authorities, as well as support various programs and projects under the Ministry.
The budget also includes plans to establish a National Prayer Day, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to religious and community development.
According to Governs Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways and MP for Adaklu, the remuneration for assembly members will be factored into the Common Fund formula, which is currently under review.
The Ministry plays a role in overseeing local governance structures, chieftaincy matters, and religious affairs in Ghana.
