Governor Otu appoints 3rd CPS in 2 years

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has appointed a third Chief Press Secretary (CPS) in the first two years of his administration.

In a press release signed by Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, Secretary to State Government (SSG), on Tuesday, the Governor appointed Mr Linus Obogo as the new Chief Press Secretary.

The release with reference number: SSG/GSA/102/VOL.VI/191, stated also that Ubogo doubles as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor – the position he last held.

Meanwhile, the former CPS, Mr Nsa Gill, was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Affairs.

“His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has approved the appointment of Mr Linus Obogo as Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor.

“Obogo’s appointment is in line with the administration’s commitment to strengthening its information machinery for effective and responsive communication.

“Similarly, the Governor has appointed Mr Nsa Gill as Special Adviser on Public Affairs.

“Mr Gill is expected to deepen the interface between government and the public, ensuring clarity, engagement, and transparency in policy communication.

“Both appointments take immediate effect,” the release read.

When Converseer contacted Gill on Tuesday, he confirmed his new position.

Converseer reports that after his swearing-in in May 2023, Governor Otu appointed Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche as his CPS in June of the same year. In March 2024, the Governor reassigned Ogbeche and appointed Gill as his CPS.
