Governor Bassey Otu has returned the Bikers’ Carnival which is part of the Carnival Calabar discontinued a year ago.

CONVERSEER reports that former Governor Ben Ayade discontinued the Bikers’ Carnival also referred to as Bikers Parade in 2022 following the accident that claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and eight others.

The accident involving a Toyota Camry which happened on 27 December 2022 at Bogobiri, Mary Avenue during the parade also injured 28 persons. The injured victims included 20 adult males, 3 women, 2 male children and 3 female children.

In the wake of the accident, Ayade ordered the Bikers’ Carnival be discontinued.

One year later, Governor Otu reinstated the Bikers’ Carnival, including the Children’s Carnival which was also cancelled by Ayade.
