Grandson chops off Grandfather’s head over witchcraft in Cross River

A man identified as Enoch Agbaube has chopped off his grandfather’s head in Northern Cross River State over alleged witchcraft.

Enoch’s grandfather’s name is known as John Agbaube.

The incident, CONVERSEER gathered occurred on Friday (August 18) in Utanga community of Obanliku Local Government Area.

A reliable source, Barr. Paul Idiga said Enoch accused his grandfather of being a wizard and the one behind his misfortunes.

The perpetrator hacked his grandfather to death with a machete while he was sitting on his local chair outside of his house.

“He accused his grandpa of witchcraft.

“He said his grandpa is responsible for all his woes and lack of progress,” Idiga told CONVERSEER.

Recall that on June 18, 2023, a group of angry youths lynched a mother of four, Madam Martina Okey Itagbor over alleged witchcraft in Akamkpa Local Government Area in Southern part of the State.

Not less than 26 persons were arrested by the Police in connection with the murder of Itagbor.

Alleged witchcraft killing and maiming is becoming a norm in Cross River despite warnings from the authorities.
