Strong northerly winds reaching up to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea and below-average temperatures will persist across Greece on Sunday, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) reported.
In the Attica, cloudy skies will bring occasional light rain, mainly in northern and eastern areas. Winds will blow from the north-northeast at 4-6 Beaufort, increasing to 7 Beaufort in some coastal areas. Temperatures in Athens will range from 4 to 10 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rainfall is forecast for Crete, while intermittent light rain will affect parts of eastern mainland Greece, the northeastern Aegean islands, the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese. Mountainous regions, including Evia and Crete, may see light snow, with significant snowfall already reported in Evia’s highlands early Sunday.
Winds will range from 4-5 Beaufort in western Greece to 5-7 Beaufort in the east, peaking at 8 Beaufort in the Aegean during the morning hours.
Temperatures will stay unseasonably low, reaching 10 degrees in central and northern areas and up to 15 degrees in southern Crete and the Dodecanese. Frost is expected in mainland areas during the early morning and evening hours.
