“I don’t have chance” – Man abandons late brother in mortuary for 2 years

By Joe Udo

UYO (CONVERSEER) – “I am busy attending to family business,” these are the supposed words of Mr Efiok Udoh, the brother of late William Udoh, who died two years ago and is still in the mortuary.

According to Hon. Eric Anderson, former Commissioner for Tourism and Culture and Information and Orientation in Cross River State, on Tuesday, William, popularly known as Big Willie, died two years ago but his remains are still in the morgue in Lagos State.

The deceased family is yet to finalise plans to bring their son home and lay him to rest in Akwa Ibom State.

The former Commissioner said Big Willie’s wife and children have relocated to Rivers State, while their husband and father’s deceased body remains in Lagos due to an extended family matter.

Anderson said efforts have been made for the extended family to allow Big Willie’s friends to bury him, but his brother said he is busy attending to family business.

“On the first year remembrance, I was notified that he wasn’t buried. His wife, Happiness and child had to relocate to Rivers State to start a new life.

“As friends, we have been reaching out to his wife same way we have done today being the second year remembrance.

“I asked her repeatedly, are you sure they have not buried him without your knowledge and she said, no, my husband is still in a mortuary in Lagos State.

“William’s mother is presently ill and can’t walk, else I would have posted her contact here, but his brother claims he is busy attending to family business, so let’s keep him busy some more by asking him as the head of the family, which way forward?

“08108176311 (Mr Efiok Udoh). Above is William’s brother. We, the concerned friends of Big Willie, are capable of handling the funeral. Let the Family tell us now,” Anderson posted on Facebook.
