Analyst, Jeff Pu recently released a report that the iPhone 17 Pro series models launched by Apple in 2025 will be equipped with Apple’s own design Wi-Fi 7 chip.
Pu said Apple’s self-developed Wi-Fi 7 chips will have a long-term impact on existing supplier Broadcom.
Pu believes that after Apple deploys its self-developed Wi-Fi 7 chips to Pro models in 2025, it will be expanded to the entire iPhone 18 series in 2026. However, Pu did not disclose other details of the chip in the research report.
According to IT House, in January this year,.Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said, Apple plans to phase out Broadcom’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips in 2025 and switch to its own chip design.
Stacy Rasgon, an analyst at financial services firm AB Bernstein, said Apple’s decision to phase out Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips could reduce Broadcom’s revenue by about $1 billion to $1.5 billion.

However, he added that Broadcom’s radio frequency (RF) chips are complex to design and manufacture and are unlikely to be replaced in the short term.
However, in January this year, another analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo believed that Apple had suspended self-research Wi-Fi chips it is unclear whether Apple has resumed research and development.
Wi-Fi 7 support will allow iPhone 17 Pro models to send and receive data over the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands simultaneously with supported routers, resulting in faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency and more reliable connections.
According to Qualcomm, Wi-Fi 7 can deliver peak speeds of over 40 Gbps, which is 4 times faster than Wi-Fi 6E.
