The people of Calabar, Cross River State capital can now enjoy film cinema after over 8 years of absence as Kada Cinema officially opens at Marina Resort.
During the opening ceremony on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, Governor Bassey Otu said his administration will ensure it revives the tourism sector which the state is known for.
Otu commended Lucky Igbenidion, former governor of Edo State, for deciding to invest in the multi-million facility in the state.
“We are so glad and happy that we started with this and I know that greater things will be added.
“My administration is willing and ready to continue to support in any way we can so that life will get to normal.
“This is just the beginning, we will be cutting the tape for many more things,” Otu said during the commissioning of Kada Cinema.
The governor further disclosed that beginning from the 1st to the 31st of December, more structures will come up as he aims to make the 2023 Carnival Calabar the best in the world.
On his last, Mr Trevor, an official of the Kada Cinema, said the group is excited to provide an entertainment experience in the state, adding that the company is looking forward to a fun-filled adventure.
He noted that besides the Kada Cinema, the group is also bringing in the Kada Healthcare and Pharmacy as well as the Zozo Bistro to the state.
Meanwhile, Prince Ojoi Ekpenyong, Managing Director of the Cross River State Tourism Bureau, in his early remark said that the cinema is located close to the cleanest and best waterfront in West Africa.

CONVERSEER reports that the cinema facility, built by former Governor Donald Duke to boost the rich tourism sector was abandoned by subsequent administrations before its rehabilitation and rebranding by the management of Kada Cinema this year.
