Kwesi Appiah, the former Ghana coach, is at the center of a salary dispute that’s keeping him from the Sudan national team camp.
According to Africasoccer the Falcons of Jediane are in Saudi Arabia for a crucial 12-day training camp ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Appiah’s absence is sparking controversy.
Appiah, the head coach of Sudan’s national team, has reportedly delayed joining the squad until his financial demands are met he is said to have skipped a crucial meeting with the Vice President of the Sudan Football Association (SFA), Osama Atta Al-Mannan, after a recent trip to Ghana.

Despite these tensions, the Sudan FA is scrambling to resolve the payment issues with Appiah.

Sudan is preparing for two key qualifiers in March, facing Senegal on March 18 and South Sudan on March 24 in Group B. The Falcons of Jediane currently sit at the top of the group with 10 points after a stellar performance in the first four matches.

To boost their World Cup qualifying campaign, Sudan has scheduled a friendly match with Jordan and will travel to Libya on March 17, 2025.
