Following the rescheduled of the 2024 local government election to 2nd November by CROSIEC, the Labour Party Interim Leadership in Cross River State led by Comrade (Dr) John O. Ushie, has commenced sales of Forms to aspirants of the party.
According to the party spokesperson, Comrade Amawu Cletus at the weekend, the Interim Chairman used the opportunity to encourage eligible party members who are interested in running for both Chairmanship and Councillorship to visit the Party Secretariat at Anchorvino Hotel at 10, Asari Iso Street, Off Effio-Ete Junction, Calabar, to purchase their nomination and expression of interest forms.
Ushie also used the opportunity to warn and advise party members that the only State Executive recognised by the Party and Law is the Interim Leadership Executive Committee constituted during the Labour Party (LP) Stakeholders meeting held on 4th September 2024 in Umuhia, Abia State, convened by Dr Alex Otti, as Acting National Chairman and His Excellency, Peter Obi as Acting National Secretary in the efforts at repositioning and rebuilding the Party after the expiration of the Barr. Julius Abure-led National Executive Council (NEC).
“The Stakeholders meeting also dissolved the expired State Executive Council (SEC) and all illegal structures installed by Julius Abure across the States of the Federation which included the Ogar Osim’s SEC.”
Ushie, however, regrets the antics of Ogar Osim in trying to mislead party members and the public with the sole aim to defraud unsuspecting and gullible party members, like in the cases as it concerns sales of Party Forms towards the forthcoming Council Election.
“Let me make it clear and once again use this opportunity to warn and advise aspirants to stop doing any business as it concerns the Labour Party in Cross River State to avoid any dealings with the Ogar Osim’s expired SEC since 8th of June 2024.
“It is also regrettable to hear from some aspirants who came to purchase their forms and who have never met with Ogar Osim before but are just talking on the phone for the first time, being asked to pay money to a certain account and will be directed to somewhere else to pick purported form! This action is absurd!
“It may also interest you to know that, these characters don’t have a physical office going by documents posted and before the public.
“Let me once again appreciate your zeal and determination to want to participate in the coming election, and to win barely no itches and devoid of manipulations to advance democracy and social justice of our great party ideology,” he concluded.
CONVERSEER reports that party aspirants who have so far purchased their Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms are from Obudu, Boki, Yakurr and Akamkpa Local Government Areas.
