Liverpool’s final home game ticket most expensive in Premier League history

Tickets for final home games of the Premier League season are selling for 1,386% above the average ticket price

With the price of Premier League tickets continuing to come under fan scrutiny, a new study by betting tip subscription service Tipman Tips has revealed how much resale ticket prices are spiking for the final home games of the season. 

The research found that tickets on the resale market for each team’s final home game of the season are selling for 1,343% more than the average ticket price sold by the club. 

The most expensive tickets are for Liverpool’s trophy presentation game, Bournemouth’s final home game of the season, and Everton’s farewell to Goodison Park, each setting fans back £850+ for the cheapest ticket available. 

The eye watering prices have been revealed by Tipman Tips, following criticism of ticket prices from Labour MP, Ian Byrne, who claimed that Football ticket prices are becoming too expensive for working class fans. 

Liverpool’s final home game named the most valuable Premier League ticket

The research from Tipman Tips analysed the current resale price of tickets on SeatPick for the final home game of the season for all 20 Premier League teams. The betting tip subscription service found that the average price for Liverpool’s final home game is £3,874, by far the most expensive in the league, costing more than double the amount of the next most expensive ticket, which is for Bournemouth’s final home game.

There are currently more than 900 tickets available for Liverpool’s final home game of the season vs Crystal Palace on May 25th which will see them lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in front of fans. However, the cheapest of those tickets starts at a whopping £950, with 90% of tickets costing over £1,550. 

To put the staggering cost of the average ticket price of £3,874 into context, the average weekly pay for Merseyside employees, according to ONS figures, is £661. That means the average ticket price for the Palace game would set most fans back the equivalent of six weeks worth of wages.

The average ticket price for a Liverpool game sold by the club costs £45, with the most expensive for a regular Adult ticket setting fans back £61. In comparison, the average price for the final home game on the resale market costs an astonishing 8,509% more. 

The cheapest ticket for Everton’s Goodison Park farewell will cost fans £925

There are currently only 16 tickets available for Everton’s final home game of the season vs Southampton on May 18th. Due to the unique occasion and the limited supply on the resale market, the average ticket price has skyrocketed to £1,192. 

The cheapest of those tickets starts at £925, a 259% increase vs the cheapest ticket the week of the penultimate game vs Ipswich last weekend.  

The average ticket price for an Everton game sold by the club costs £55. By comparison, the average price for the final home game on the resale market costs an astonishing 2,067% more. 

Resale tickets for the final home games of the season see huge spike in prices

Tickets for each club’s final home game of the season are selling on the resale market on average 1,386% higher than the average cost of a club sold ticket, with tickets for eight teams being sold at a price spike of more than 1,000%. 

Bournemouth’s final home game of the season is the hardest ticket to get, with just 4 tickets currently available. As a result of the scarce supply, tickets are selling at an average price of £1,888, with the cheapest ticket costing £850 for fans that want to see Bournemouth possibly clinch European Football for the first time in the club’s history.

Surprisingly, tickets for Leicester’s final home game before relegation from the Premier League are the fourth most expensive ticket, costing £1,083 on average, with the cheapest starting at £100.

Tickets for Nottingham Forest’s final home game of the season, which could potentially be a shootout for a Champions League spot vs Chelsea, are selling on average for £1,070, a near-2,000% increase on the average ticket price sold by the club. 

Despite the high ticket price, Liverpool’s final home game actually has the highest number of resale tickets available at 951. Chelsea (918), Man City (899), Man Utd (895), and Tottenham (868), also have a large choice of resale tickets listed. Chelsea have the highest percentage of their total stadium capacity available for resale at 2.3%. 

Although they still have a Champions League spot to play for, Man City have the cheapest tickets available for their final home game. Their average ticket price costs £171, with the cheapest at just £55, the same as the average price of a club sold ticket. The lowest cost to see a team’s final home of the season however is at West Ham where the cheapest ticket price available costs just £42.
