Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a man, Sholola Kazeem, for allegedly pouring hot oil on his wife.
He also stabbed the woman identified as Sholola Mutiat in the head at their residence in the Owode Egba area of Obafemi/Owode local government area of the State on Saturday.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta.
She said the man committed the offense during a misunderstanding with his wife.
The statement read: “The Divisional Police Officer in Owode Egba division has promptly intervened in a case involving gender-based violence and assault against a housewife, leading to the arrest of her husband for causing various injuries to her.
“On January 18, 2025, at about 12:20 hours the divisional police officer received a report from members of the Ring Road community regarding an incident involving Sholola Kazeem, a male resident, and his wife, Sholola Mutiat, who reside at the same address.
“It was reported that Sholola Kazeem, in an uncontrollable anger over a misunderstanding, poured hot oil over his wife’s body and also stabbed her in the head.
“The victim was taken to Ore Ofé Hospital for medical attention, and the crime scene was examined.
“The suspect has been apprehended and is currently under investigation.
“Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
