Man Taken into Custody for Suspected Murder of Wedding Guest in Niger State

The Niger State police command has arrested Jamilu Saidu, a resident of Kumbashi District, Mariga Local Government Area, for allegedly k!lling 30-year-old Iliyasu Aminu during an altercation at a wedding ceremony.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state police command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the incident occurred when a fight broke out between two villages—Yabawa and Ungwar Sarkin-Daji—in Kumbashi District during the wedding. According to Abiodun, things took a different turn when Jamilu allegedly struck Iliyasu Aminu on the head with a machete, leading to his death.

The police spokesperson said the suspect was immediately arrested and confessed to committing the crime. The police spokesperson also revealed that Jamilu was among 10 suspects arrested for various offences across the state in recent days.
