Abeokuta, Nigeria – The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been closed indefinitely following student protests against a new result verification policy.
The decision was taken to prevent a potential breakdown of law and order.
The protests erupted in response to the management’s initiative to verify National Diploma (ND) results obtained from other institutions.
Several students faced challenges with the verification process, sparking widespread concern and leading to demonstrations.
In a statement, Yemi Ajibola, Head of Public Relations and Protocol at MAPOLY, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic integrity, stating, “We have zero tolerance for fake results from any source.”
Ajibola urged students to avoid the campus for safety reasons, assuring the public that updates would be communicated promptly.
The closure highlights the tension between upholding academic standards and addressing student concerns within Nigeria’s educational system.
Parents and stakeholders have been urged to remain calm as the institution works to resolve the situation.
