Mauritania is stepping up efforts to empower women, aiming to boost their participation in decision-making processes and contribute to national development.
Led by Ms. Mehla Ahmed Talebna, President of the National Observatory for the Rights of Women and Girls, a Mauritanian delegation recently visited Côte d’Ivoire to explore the establishment of the Compendium of Women’s Skills in Mauritania (Cocofmau).
The delegation was warmly welcomed in Abidjan by Ms. Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, former Ivorian Minister of Women’s Affairs and National Coordinator of the Compendium of Women’s Skills of Côte d’Ivoire (COCOFCI).
The visit, initiated by the National Organization for the Development and Promotion of Women in Mauritania (ONDFF), was designed and implemented by the UNESCO Chair “Water, Women and Decision-Making Power” (CUEFPOD), under Ms. Yao’s leadership.
Throughout the visit, the delegation engaged in strategic discussions to better understand how to structure, manage, and sustain the Compendium of Women’s Skills, drawing valuable insights from Côte d’Ivoire’s successful model.
