Michael Carrick Enthuses Over Iheanacho's Potential Success at Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough head coach Michael Carrick has expressed confidence in Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s ability to succeed at the Riverside Stadium.

Iheanacho, who played a limited role for Leicester City last season in the EFL Championship, contributed five goals and one assist in 23 appearances as the Foxes secured promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca.

Following the expiration of his contract at the King Power Stadium, the 28-year-old moved to La Liga, joining Sevilla.

However, his time in Spain has been underwhelming, with no goals in 401 minutes of league action. With Sevilla bringing in Akor Adams from Montpellier for €5 million and interest from multiple clubs, Iheanacho opted for a return to the Championship, joining Middlesbrough on a six-month loan.

“We’re delighted to have Kelechi on board. His quality is clear, and he knows what it takes to succeed at this level. He played in the Premier League for several years and proved himself in the Championship last season. He’s a top-quality player, and we’re really happy to have him.”

Middlesbrough currently sit seventh in the Championship standings, just outside the playoff spots on goal difference. With Iheanacho’s experience and attacking prowess, The Boro will be aiming to secure a spot in the playoff finals in May.
