Calabar, Nigeria – The Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Projects, Programmes Monitoring and Evaluation, Raphael Adoga Morphy, has lauded the Governor’s dynamic leadership and his administration’s remarkable strides in economic reforms and infrastructural development.

Morphy commended the Governor for ushering in a new era of development and prosperity across the state, during a press briefing held by the Special Advisers’ Forum at the NUJ Press Centre in Calabar.

“Since assuming office, Governor Otu has hit the ground running, taking governance to unprecedented heights. His few months in office have been nothing short of remarkable,” he declared, emphasising that the Governor’s transparency, accountability, and integrity are key drivers behind the rapid progress.

Morpthy highlighted several flagship projects spearheaded by the administration. In the Northern Senatorial District, he cited the construction and rehabilitation of a 12.5km road from Ndok junction into Ogoja town—a project that has significantly improved local infrastructure. “The visible signature of this project in Ogoja is a clear testament to the Governor’s commitment to grassroots development,” he added.

Other notable projects include:

  • Yala: The construction of the Yache-Wanokom-Wanikade road, which has revolutionised connectivity for previously isolated communities.
  • Bekwarra: The provision of transformers aimed at boosting electricity supply in an area long plagued by power outages.
  • Obudu: The near completion (at 90%) of the Obudu Cargo Airport, signaling optimism for timely completion and enhanced regional connectivity.

Adding to the chorus of commendation, Special Adviser on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr Gilbert Agbor, spotlighted additional initiatives. His remarks included the significant road construction projects in Ugep, Obubra, and Ikom, alongside strategic investments in agriculture designed to boost productivity and foster economic growth within the senatorial district.

Special Adviser on Events Management, Effiong Ekpeyong, further broadened the narrative by highlighting projects across the Southern Senatorial district.

Ekpeyong detailed comprehensive interventions in transport infrastructure—spanning road, railway, and aviation sectors—as well as critical enhancements in electrification, healthcare, quality education, and official infrastructures.

He also noted initiatives in youth development, economic reforms, environmental management, tourism, and sustainable livelihood empowerment. Of particular interest was the Humanity without Borders empowerment initiative, a social welfare and humanitarian project championed by the Governor’s wife.

Governor Otu’s multifaceted approach to governance, as outlined by his special advisers, underscores a commitment not only to addressing longstanding challenges but also to laying a robust foundation for inclusive development. With a clear focus on both infrastructural enhancement and socio-economic reforms, the administration’s actions are setting the stage for a transformative era in the state’s history.
