Natasha Akpoti absent as Senate committee probes her plenary conduct

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was absent on Wednesday, March 5, as the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions examined her conduct during last week’s controversial plenary session.

The review stemmed from a heated confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seat allocation, during which she accused him of publicly humiliating her and blocking her legislative motions. The clash resulted in Akpabio denying her the floor, leading the Senate to refer the matter to its Ethics Committee for investigation.

During the hearing, Committee Chairman Senator Neda Imasuen (PDP, Edo South) acknowledged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s absence, stating, “Senator Natasha was duly invited to this meeting. We hope she will join us as we continue.” Despite the official summons, she had not appeared before the committee as of the time of filing this report.
