CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Cross River State Chapter, has congratulated two of its members, Comrade Imani Odey and Comrade Mercy Ntor, on their recent appointments by the Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson, Rekpene Uket, and Secretary, Maria Ewa, the association described the appointments as a recognition of the competence and dedication of the two journalists, who have served the association and the state diligently.
Governor Otu recently appointed Comrade Imani Odey, a former State Secretary of NAWOJ, as the Special Adviser on Electronic Media, while Comrade Mercy Ntor was named Special Assistant on Content Development (Electronic Media).
NAWOJ commended Governor Otu for what it called a strategic decision in elevating professionals to key positions in his administration, expressing confidence that the duo would uphold the highest standards of public service.
“The Union appreciates the trust and confidence placed in them by the Governor, with the assurance that they will uphold the highest standards of public service and make a positive impact,” the statement read.
The association further prayed for their success in their new roles, urging them to remain committed to advancing the representation of women and children in governance and media.
NAWOJ described the appointments as not only a personal achievement for the appointees but also a source of pride for the association and a motivation for other female journalists across the state.
