NDLEA busts drug cartel, seizes cocaine, skunk concealed in mattresses, car parts

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted large quantities of cocaine, skunk, and other illicit substances concealed in mattresses and vehicle parts.

The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement and video he shared on Sunday on X, said the discovery of the drugs highlighted the creative tactics employed by drug smugglers, as the agency continues to intensify its efforts to curb the illegal drug trade across the country.

“Narco-trend: Everywhere #ndlea_nigeria officers turned this past week, it was a harvest of arrests and seizures of cocaine, skunk, etc., in unusual places — mattresses, auto parts. Take a quick look at some of them before we serve you the full details in our statement at noon today,” he wrote.

He added that the drug bust is coming barely days after the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamad Buba Marwa (Retd), revealed that the South-West geo-political zone of Nigeria has the highest number of illicit drug use followed by the South-South, South-East, North-West, and North-Central followed respectively.
