Nigerian Authorities Initiate Probe into Kogi Prison Break and Command Recapture of Fugitives

The Nigerian government has ordered an urgent investigation into the recent jailbreak at Koton Karfe Correctional Centre in Kogi State, where 12 inmates escaped.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, described the incident as unfortunate and vowed that all escapees would be tracked down and recaptured.

The minister has directed security agencies to utilize biometric data and deploy advanced technology to identify and apprehend the fugitives.

Additionally, Tunji-Ojo instructed the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi, to visit the facility for a thorough assessment.

He also mandated a comprehensive audit to uncover the circumstances surrounding the breach and prevent future occurrences.

The government has reassured the public of its commitment to strengthening prison security and ensuring accountability in the correctional system.
