ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the operation of the newly created Ebonyi State University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering located in Ezza.
The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, presented the provisional licence to a state delegation led by Deputy Governor Patricia Obila in Abuja.
Speaking during the presentation, Ribadu stated that the new university is the 69th state university and 300th university in Nigeria.
He emphasised adherence to NUC guidelines to avoid sanctions and assured that a copy of the license will be sent to relevant bodies like Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for recognition.
He further emphasised the importance of adhering to established guidelines as regards university operations in Nigeria, suggesting that the Commission be contacted for proper guidance to avoid sanctions.
Responding, Deputy Governor Obila thanked NUC and promised the university will address Nigeria’s aviation challenges and train manpower for the sector.
She assured that the state has made adequate preparations for the university’s smooth operation.
