Nwabali Rejoins Chippa United Following Heartbreaking Loss of His Mother

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has made his return to Chippa United, 14 days after the devastating loss of his mother.

The 28-year-old has faced an incredibly difficult period, losing both of his parents within a span of two months. Nwabali’s father passed away in mid-November while he was on international duty with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Just as he began to grieve, the Chippa United shot stopper mother passed away at the beginning of the new year, a loss he shared with fans on social media.

Following his mother’s passing, Nwabali took a break from football to be with his family in Nigeria. Fortunately, his time away coincided with the South African league’s half-season break, allowing him the space to mourn.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has made his return to Chippa United, 14 days after the devastating loss of his mother.

Now, it seems Nwabali is ready to return to the pitch. The goalkeeper shared a video of himself on a plane heading back to South Africa and posted a throwback picture from his time at Chippa United, signaling his readiness to resume his professional career.

The shot stopper has played 12 matches keeping 4 clean sheets across all competitions for the chilly boys, he has also conceded 11 goals in those games as the Chippa United stay 12th in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa.
