Another building has collapsed in Abuja, leaving a National Youth Service Corps Member (NYSC) trapped inside.
This is coming in barely 24 hours after a building collapsed in Jos, Plateau State, killing multiple people on Friday.
This morning, Saturday, at about 7 am, a two-storey building collapsed in Kubwa, Abuja, with some residents inside.
Converseer gathered that the incident happened in the 2:2 Area of Kubwa, Abuja.
Mrs Ella Onyeke, an eyewitness, said the residents started noticing a crack and the inevitable collapse of the building on Friday.
“One man living in the building took his family and left, saying the building was cracking.
“About 5 am this morning, some of the residents, noticing the building tilting towards one side, had to park their things. They tried notifying others but they were yet to awake.
“At about 7 am this morning, the building collapsed, leaving some people inside. The rescue team has so far rescued about four but one lady, a Corps Member named Mellin is still inside,” Onyeke said.

Another eyewitness who lives close to the building, Amaka Agha, while recounting her experience, said, “This morning, around 7 am, we heard a rumbling sound, I thought it was from the next compound, so I rushed out, only to see commotion everywhere.
“When I ran to the front, I saw that the building had collapsed. We tried to rescue some people, we called FERMA and Fire Service, and so far, they have rescued about four people but some are still trapped inside.”
Converseer reports that Federal and FCT Fire Services, NEMA, as well as FERMA officials, are carrying out rescue and evacuation of the building.
