Passenger Tries to Open Door Before Takeoff, Causing ‘Screaming’ Halt at Boston Logan Airport Flight

A JetBlue flight departing from Logan Airport abruptly came to a stop this evening after a passenger attempted to open a door and exit the aircraft, according to State Police.

“Just before takeoff, a passenger who wanted to get off the plane unexpectedly opened an aircraft door without any warning,” stated MSP spokesperson Tim McGuirk.

The alarming incident was reported around 7:30 p.m. on a JetBlue flight, with audio from the pilot indicating he could “hear the passengers screaming.” Fortunately, there was a law enforcement officer (LEO) on board who quickly responded, as reported in a tweet by Ted Daniel of NBC10.

The individual involved has been arrested but remains unnamed. According to preliminary investigations, State Police described the occurrence as “an isolated incident.”

State Police further noted, “The person is anticipated to face charges and will be arraigned in East Boston District Court tomorrow morning. Their identity will be disclosed once the charges are confirmed.”
