Shocking details have emerged about a pastor from Khayelitsha in Cape Town, who is accused of exploiting his position to commit grievous acts against vulnerable young women.
The 51-year-old pastor appeared in Khayelitsha magistrate’s court last Friday, facing charges of r@pe, attempted r@pe, s3xual assault, attempted murd3r, and ass@ult with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The incidents allegedly took place at the church in Endlovini between November 2022 and January 2025. The victims, aged 15, 22, and 23, were reportedly brought to the church by their mothers in search of healing.
According to police spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg, the pastor is accused of coercing his victims into sexual acts under the pretence of healing them. The community became aware of his actions after a meeting prompted victims to come forward.
The court heard that the pastor’s behaviour included physical and s3xual violence, manipulation, and threats to the victims’ families. In one instance, the pastor allegedly told a victim that her mother would die if she refused to sleep with him.
The second victim, who was also allegedly r@ped, fell pregnant and gave birth to the pastor’s child. The third victim, a young girl, also reported being raped and offered money, which she declined. She later gave birth to the pastor’s child.
The court has postponed the bail hearing to February 20. The case has raised concerns about the exploitation of vulnerable individuals under the guise of religious authority.
