PDP accuses Rivers Sole Administrator of dismantling Fubara’s structures

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd), of systematically dismantling the structures put in place by the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The party also dismissed allegations by the former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, branding him a “serial betrayer.”

The PDP Chairman in the state, Nwame Ewor, who addressed journalists on Sunday in Port Harcourt, alleged that the former HoS has become a political tool for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

He condemned the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State.

He argued that Rivers State is neither in a state of war nor facing any natural disaster that would necessitate such a drastic measure.

Ewor questioned whether the actions of the sole administrator were genuinely aimed at restoring peace and order or to escalate the crisis further.

He also refuted the allegations made by Nwaeke, including claims that Fubara was involved in the burning of the state House of Assembly and had pledged allegiance to the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for the 2027 elections.

The PDP chairman dismissed these assertions as “false and baseless,” accusing Nwaeke of spreading misinformation to serve Wike’s political interests.

He said: “Nwaeke, highly compromised and a serial betrayer, became a ready tool in the hands of the FCT Minister to carry out a campaign of calumny, libel, defamation, and distortion of facts against our governor, the PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed, and other stakeholders.”

Ewor further alleged that Nwaeke’s recent actions were deliberate and premeditated, aimed at tarnishing Fubara’s reputation and causing discord within the PDP.

“By my assessment, Nwaeke is neither under duress nor under any spell. He has been a career civil servant in Rivers State for over 40 years and knew exactly what he was doing.

“He willingly traveled from Port Harcourt to Abuja, boarded a flight, and delivered a pre-written script designed to discredit Governor Fubara and mislead the public,” he argued.

The PDP chairman also challenged Nwaeke’s claims about the bombing of the House of Assembly, stating that multiple arrests were made following the incident, and none implicated the governor or his associates.

He pointed out that suspects were charged in Abuja, later remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre for eight months, and eventually freed due to a lack of diligent prosecution.
