Uyo, Nigeria – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers, Francis Bassey Ekpo and Ezekiel Nse Okon, from Ikpanya in the Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.

The duo allegedly kidnapped three individuals and demanded a ransom of ₦5 million, though the victims were rescued unharmed following police intervention.

In a related development, the police arrested 10 tricycle operators operating in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, during the early hours of January 10.

The individuals are accused of aiding criminals by transporting stolen items, participating in robberies, and vandalising public infrastructure such as transformers and electric cables.

The commissioner reiterated the commitment of the police to rid the state of crime, stating, “Akwa Ibom State will no longer be a safe haven for criminals.”

He urged residents to report suspicious activities to the authorities to ensure the safety of their communities.
