Police arrest 3 Cameroonian separatists in Cross River

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested three Ambazonian separatists from Cameroon in Cross River State.

According to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ukachi Opara, the Cameroonian separatists were arrested on Thursday, 10th October in Akamkpa Local Government Area of the State.

CP Opara, who was briefing journalists in a maiden media parley on Friday, 11th October, at the Command’s Headquarters in Calabar, said several items, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), were recovered from the suspects.

“On 10/10/2024, at about 1500hrs, through a tip-off information that Cameroonian Ambazonian rebel fighters are residing at No. 6 All-Nation Road, in Akamkpa Local Government. Based on the information, the surveillance team of the Division monitored and arrested the suspects.

“They are Jovany Nji ‘m’, Tito Calmas ‘m’, and Cynthia Ini ‘f’.

“Items recovered from them are some improvised explosive devices (IEDs), pairs of jungle boots, booklets of Ambazonian rebel, two flags and charms.

“The case file has been transferred to State CID for discreet and diligent prosecution,” CP Opara said while parading the suspects.

CONVERSEER reports that the Command also paraded four other suspects for various offences, as well as recovered one locally fabricated Berretta pistol with two (2) rounds of live 9mm ammunition and other exhibits.
