INKIL – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the production of counterfeit herbicides in Inkil, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this to journalists on Sunday, stating that the operation was carried out on Friday, 3 May, around 1:30 p.m., following credible intelligence.

According to Wakil, officials from the Command’s monitoring unit raided a residential property in the Unguwan Liman area of Inkil, where the illegal activity was believed to have been taking place.

“The suspects were caught in the act at a residential property in the Unguwan Liman area, where authorities believed the illicit activity had been ongoing,” Wakil said.

He added that the raid led to the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit materials and equipment, including 26 cartons labelled “Force Up” and an empty carton labelled “Gobora.”

Also recovered from the site were two drums containing suspicious liquid substances, 100 empty one-litre containers labelled “Force Up,” sealing tapes, scissors, glue, leather materials, charcoal, and welding tools used in the fake production process.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly identified a 36-year-old resident of Fadaman Mada as the ringleader of the illicit operation. He was subsequently traced and arrested by the police.

Wakil confirmed that all suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine the scale of the operation and to dismantle the wider criminal network involved.

He reassured the public of the police command’s commitment to fighting criminal activities that threaten public safety and consumer confidence.

“The Command will continue to take decisive action against individuals and groups engaging in illegal practices, especially those endangering lives through the production of harmful substances,” Wakil added.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
