Security operatives foil bandits? attack in Katsina

Security operatives have successfully thwarted an attack by suspected bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, the police confirmed on Sunday, March 16.

 

In a statement, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, disclosed that the operation was carried out on Saturday, March 15, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).

 

According to him, the bandits had been preparing to attack Dan Takuri village before security forces acted on intelligence. He said security operatives immediately stormed Maijele Mountain, where the suspected bandits had gathered, leading to a fierce gun duel. One of the armed bandits was neutralized, while several others escaped with injuries.

 

Security personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle with ammunition, a motorcycle, suspected Indian hemp, soft drinks, a cutlass, and dangerous drugs from the scene.

 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, reaffirming the command’s commitment to securing lives and property. He assured residents that the security agencies in the state remain dedicated to ensuring peace and stability.
