Senate holds private meeting regarding emergency declaration in Rivers State.

The Nigerian Senate has entered into a closed session to discuss President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, which includes the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other elected officials.

The closed-door meeting was initiated after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read a formal letter from President Tinubu during the Senate’s plenary session on Thursday.

Following the reading of the letter, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved a motion for a closed session, citing Order 135 of the Senate’s procedural rules. The motion was then seconded by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro.
