Senator Jarigbe Addresses PDP on Suspension of State Chairman

Ogoja, Cross River State – In a speech delivered to members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the party’s leader in the state and a distinguished senator, addressed the suspension of the State Chairman, Mr Venatius Ikem Esq., and the subsequent appointment of Chief Austin Edibe as Acting Chairman.

The announcement marks a significant development in the party’s efforts to strengthen its internal structures and enhance its capacity for governance and representation.

The decision, Senator Jarigbe explained, was made by the State Executive Committee in accordance with the PDP Constitution. He described it as a deliberate and necessary move to reposition the party for future success.

Congratulating the New Leadership

Senator Jarigbe commended Chief Austin Edibe on his appointment, describing him as a dedicated leader with the capability to steer the party toward its goals. “Your selection is a testament to your unwavering dedication, leadership qualities, and capacity to steer our Party toward its desired goals,” the Senator stated. He expressed confidence in Chief Edibe’s ability to unite party members, inspire trust, and implement strategies to make the PDP a dominant force in the state.

Acknowledging the Outgoing Chairman

The Senator also extended gratitude to the outgoing Chairman, Mr Vena Ikem, for his leadership over the past three years. While acknowledging the challenges of the position, Senator Jarigbe urged Mr Ikem to respect the decision of the majority, remain loyal to the party, and continue contributing to its growth.

“Leadership comes with unique challenges,” he noted. “As we transition, I urge you to submit to the decision of the majority, remain a loyal and committed party man, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the PDP.”

Appreciation for Party Leaders and Supporters

In his speech, Senator Jarigbe thanked party leaders at all levels, including former governors, deputies, and legislators, for their steadfastness and intervention during critical moments. He praised their actions for inspiring confidence and rallying supporters.

To party members across the 18 Local Government Areas and teeming supporters, he expressed profound appreciation, describing them as the backbone of the PDP. “Your dedication is the reason we continue to stand tall in the face of challenges,” he affirmed.

Call for Unity and Collaboration

Senator Jarigbe emphasised the importance of unity as the party navigates this period of transition. He urged members to set aside personal differences and work together for the collective good of the PDP.

“Rebuilding, strengthening, and repositioning the PDP will require the collective effort of everyone,” he said. “Let us put aside personal differences and unite for the common good. The future of our Party depends on our ability to work together, hand in hand, for a brighter tomorrow.”

Commitment to the Party’s Progress

Reassuring party members of his commitment, Senator Jarigbe pledged to continue supporting the PDP alongside other elected representatives from the state. He expressed optimism about the future of the party, calling for renewed determination and collaboration.

Conclusion

The Senator concluded his address by extending his blessings to the PDP, Cross River State, and Nigeria at large. He reaffirmed his confidence that the party’s best days lie ahead and encouraged all members to remain steadfast in their pursuit of progress.

This significant leadership change in the PDP is seen as a strategic move to address challenges and position the party as a formidable force in Cross River State’s political landscape.
