UTAH (CONVERSEER) – A social media influencer, Tanner Martin, has shared a final message to his followers after passing away from cancer.
Converseer reports that the Utah father sadly passed away from colon cancer.
Martin survived long enough to meet his daughter, AmyLou, born last month.
Martin and his wife, Shay, started documenting his journey after he was diagnosed with cancer in November 2020, at the age of 25.
In March, Martin discussed the difficulty of knowing he wouldn’t be able to watch his daughter grow up.
“The hardest thing about having a kid right now is knowing the chance I won’t see them grow up,” he said.
“And I know that’s the risk you take, having a kid when you have cancer, but I was just always excited to be a dad.”
Here is his full message:
“Hey, it’s me, Tanner. If you’re watching this, I am dead. Also, feel free to edit this part out, Shay, but this is just some instructions for you. I mean, keep the intro, but I mean, this is the part where I’m addressing you. You can cut. Feel free to add or remove stuff from this.
“Honestly, it’s going to be a little lighthearted, and I’ll talk about some stuff that I think that you’ll need, and maybe our kids will need. I mean, post this, and you don’t have to make a video announcing to the world that I’m dead, or you can do both, and that’s totally fine, but I just want you to have…
“Like, this video isn’t supposed to restrict you. This video is supposed to help you, so you can post it as is, or you can edit it and interspace it with your own video, or honestly, if you don’t want to post it, you don’t have to.
“All right, and back to normal stuff. Everyone, I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death because I saw someone did that, like a…year or so ago, and I think it’s a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out, and then also you can be thoughtful about what your spouse or your partner might need, and she probably needs some time to grieve, so I wanted to….
“I wanted to make a video where she could just post it, and you guys would know, and she could take a break as long as she needed to from social media or whatever. But you guys, seriously, thank you for all that you did for me while I was here, and all the support and love that you showed me and my little family.
“I would ask at this time if you could, you know, continue to offer prayers and stuff for my sweetheart, Shay, and my baby girl, AmyLou. We should have most stuff covered financially, but I mean, Shay can let you know if we need to post it. So, yeah, that’s it for now.
“I hope you enjoyed so sweet gift cards um I’m gonna guess AmyLou will probably like milk I don’t know um also she hates like knickknacks and stuff so don’t don’t send her a bunch of little trinkets uh because that will stress her out and she’ll want to show them off so she can show you how grateful she is that you guys are still thinking about her but then she’s not gonna know where to put it. And it’s just that’s just gonna cause issues.
“So uh just like words of affirmation – kind loving words to them um you know that that’d be great but you guys’ life was awesome I really enjoyed it um while I was here hopefully I believe there’s something after this and I’m excited to meet those people. And hopefully we’re hanging out now and making fun of all you nerds.
“I’m actually really excited to meet Shay’s grandpa and to meet my dad’s biological dad, uh, to see my uncle Josh again, and uh, I mean, there’s just a lot of people that for the afterlife.
“I’m excited to see them and excited to see them not in pain and just happy and uh I’m really excited to see my uncle dave he used to give the best hugs and I’m excited to feel that embrace again and I don’t know I’m like death is scary but it’s also like a new adventure you know and uh I’m kind of excited for it a little bit but not in like uh you know I want to kill myself or anything but just I’m excited to see what the experience is like and hopefully it’s good um but I love you guys and seriously thanks again for all your support and helping to make the last years of my life here on earth like fun and enjoyable and helping me be comfortable.
