At least three passengers died in a boat accident in Rivers State on Sunday.
The boat was travelling from Port Harcourt to Bonny Island when it capsised at about 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday.
She said 22 passengers were aboard the boat when it capsised but 19 were rescued by emergency responders.

“It is very sad, but 19 passengers were rescued alive. The boat capsized at Yellow Platform in Bonny while en route from Port Harcourt. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
