The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended three suspects for oil pipeline vandalism, oil theft, and illegal dealings in petroleum products. The arrests were made in Umuowaga Umuelechi Obuzo Asa, located in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the NSCDC’s Anti-Vandal Patrol team swiftly responded and discovered significant quantities of petroleum products allegedly siphoned illegally by the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Oscar Eteobong, 37, from Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State; Issac Aniete Edemba Udoh, 40, from Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State; and Emmanuel Uzoma Sunday, 20, from Isiala-Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.
Abia State NSCDC Commandant Akinsola Aderemi confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend others involved in the criminal operation. He emphasized that such acts are a direct sabotage of the nation’s economy and reaffirmed the Corps’ dedication to eradicating criminal activities in the state and beyond.
Commandant Aderemi issued a strong warning to individuals engaging in illegal activities to desist or face the full force of the law. He also called on the public to support the NSCDC by providing credible intelligence to aid in the fight against criminal elements.
The arrests underline the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding national assets and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
