TORONTO (CONVERSEER) – The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of two arrests made in relation to a Shooting investigation.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 2:21 p.m., police responded to a call for a Shooting in the Cosburn Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area.
It is alleged that:
- the suspect and victim became involved in an altercation
- the suspect then discharged a firearm, striking the victim
- the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries
Members of the Gun & Gang Task Force – Centralized Shooting Response Team commenced an investigation and identified the suspect alleged to be responsible for the shooting.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the suspect was located in the Thickson Road and Taunton Road East area in Whitby.
Owen Bayi Makouangou, 22, of Oshawa, was arrested and charged with:
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- two counts of Possess Firearm without Holding a Licence
- two counts of Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence
- two counts of Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- two counts of Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I Substance (Cocaine)
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 402.
It is further alleged at the time of arrest, officers seized the following items:
- a semi-automatic handgun
- a quantity of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
Images of the seized firearm have been released.
As a result of the investigation, another male has also been charged with several offences.
Guy-Christophe Bangoura, 26, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
- Possess Firearm without Holding a Licence
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence
- Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I Substance (Cocaine)
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 402.
