Calabar, Nigeria – The Director General of the Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency (TRAMRA), Effiong Umoh Esq., has called on citizens to prioritise road safety and responsible driving as the state welcomes 2025.
In a New Year message addressed to the people of Cross River State, Umoh extended his wishes for a prosperous year while highlighting the importance of adhering to traffic rules to ensure safer roads.
Describing the New Year as a time for reflection and renewal, he urged citizens to embrace community spirit and uphold their responsibilities as law-abiding individuals.
“The roads we share are not just pathways; they are vital links that connect us to our families, friends, and opportunities. It is imperative that we uphold the principles of safe driving and obey all traffic regulations,” Umoh stated.
He stressed that speed limits, traffic signals, and pedestrian right-of-way are critical for safeguarding lives, noting that road safety is a shared responsibility.
He appealed to motorists to be cautious, avoid recklessness, and make deliberate efforts to protect all road users.
Umoh further urged residents to promote a culture of respect and caution, emphasising that prioritising lives over convenience is key to reducing road accidents.
“Together, let us make a commitment to promote a culture of safety and respect on our roads. Let us prioritise lives over convenience and choose caution over recklessness,” he said.
The Director General’s message comes as part of efforts to instil a renewed sense of responsibility among motorists and pedestrians in the state.
He expressed optimism for a year filled with cooperation and mutual respect on the roads, wishing families across the state a successful and blessed New Year.
The appeal aligns with the agency’s commitment to improving road safety and fostering an environment where road users can navigate safely and confidently.
