The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has nullified the election of Dr Emil Inyang, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, as Member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency.

The Tribunal, CONVERSEER gathered, declared Hon. Austine Aidam of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the election.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on February 27, declared Inyang as the winner of the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency seat.

Inyang, according to the INEC scored 13,998 votes while Aidam scored 11,194 votes.

Aidam who was not pleased with the results, took the matter to the Tribunal court, which on Monday (September 11) declared him the winner.

Also, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar on Tuesday (September 12) affirmed the victory of Hon. Godwin Offiono of the PDP at the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency polls held on February 25.

CONVERSEER reports that INEC declared Offiono winner of the Ogoja/Yala Federal House of Representatives seat after polling a total of 36,642 votes, ahead of Hon. Jude Ngaji of APC, the seating Reps Member, who scored 32,964 votes.

Speaking shortly after his victory at the Tribunal, Offiono said he is committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.

“I sincerely, thank my constituents for their continuous support, Members of the Legal team for a dedicated service and the judiciary for doing Justice to the matter.

“I remain committed to fulfilling my campaign promises to the good people of Ogoja/Yala,” Offiono said.

The Reps Member who also dedicated his victory to the victims of communal clash in his constituency, called for prayers and peace.
