Walson-Jack leads Civil Servants in Thanksgiving, urges renewed commitment to nation-building

ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, on Sunday led Federal Permanent Secretaries, Directors, civil servants, and religious leaders in a solemn thanksgiving service to mark the 2025 Civil Service Week.

The Annual Thanksgiving Service, held at the Family Worship Centre, Wuye, Abuja, was organised to express collective gratitude and to recommit the civil service to the ideals of national development and professional excellence.

In her address, Mrs Walson-Jack expressed deep appreciation to God for the progress made in implementing civil service reforms and improving service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). She stated that divine guidance, coupled with professional dedication, has significantly supported the Federal Government’s transformation agenda.

“Every milestone achieved is a testament to God’s faithfulness,” she declared, adding that faith and professionalism must continue to work in synergy to sustain reform momentum.

She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support towards creating an enabling environment for reforms, and appreciated development partners for their technical and financial assistance in capacity building and digital transformation within the service.

Urging civil servants to see their work as a divine assignment, Walson-Jack called for renewed commitment to integrity, innovation, and compassionate service. She noted that the Thanksgiving service serves as a spiritual foundation for the Civil Service Week and a reminder of the need for divine wisdom and ethical standards in public service.

She also lauded the Family Worship Centre for its consistent support in nurturing ethical leadership among public servants.

In her exhortation, the Senior Pastor of the Family Worship Centre, Mrs Sarah Omakwu, encouraged civil servants to serve the nation with diligence and uphold values such as integrity and excellence. Echoing this message, Pastor Yakubu Adams Yola, in a sermon titled “Benefits of Gratitude and Thanksgiving”, urged attendees to adopt an attitude of gratitude, avoid complaints, and embrace contentment.

The service concluded with special intercessory prayers for Nigeria and the civil service, seeking divine guidance, unity, and continued progress.

The event reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to repositioning the civil service as a key driver of national development.
