YALA – Mrs Edidiong Achadu, wife of Hon. Dr Martins Achadu, Member Representing Yala II State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA), has extended humanitarian support to pupils of Community Primary School, Item, Wanikade, North Ukelle, Yala Local Government Area.
During the outreach, Mrs Achadu distributed new school uniforms, sandals, socks, clothing, and food items to over 300 pupils.
She emphasised the importance of children appearing neat and presentable, especially in the face of worn-out uniforms and footwear, stating that the intervention aligns with her husband’s commitment to improving education and Governor Bassey Otu’s “People First” agenda.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Hon. Jacob Onawo, Community Relations Officer for Yala II; Kerian Ebri, Chief of Staff to Hon. Dr Martins Achadu; Akpama Linus, Councillor Representing Wanikade Ward; Hon. Ebebe Martha Achadu; Comrade Ikade Akala, Wanikade Youth Chairman; and community leaders led by Solomon Ugo.
Expressing appreciation, the school’s Head Teacher, Ferdinand Okpako, described the donation as historic, acknowledging Mrs Achadu’s direct involvement in distributing the items.
He appealed for further support in providing physical infrastructure and additional teaching staff to accommodate the growing school population.
Hon. Ebebe Martha Achadu praised the initiative, noting that it would significantly aid vulnerable children in the ward.
Comrade Ikade Akala also commended Mrs Achadu for raising the standard of leadership with compassion, while Comrade Kerian Ebri confirmed that the intervention would extend to South Ukelle in the next phase.
