World’s First AI Programmer Devin Now Open Public

The world’s first “AI programmer” Devin was fully available on December 11, less than a year after its debut.

Its developer, Cognition Labs, announced that individual developers and engineering teams can get full access for $500 per month (currently about RMB 3,635). The subscription also includes Slack integration, IDE extensions, and professional technical support.

For large enterprises, the company provides customized enterprise solutions.

Devin is proficient in using multiple programming languagesindependently building and deploying websites and applications, and can even discover and fix code defects on his own.

Officials said that he has passed practical engineer interviews at several AI companies and successfully completed actual projects on freelance platforms such as Upwork.

It uses a sandbox computing environment, built-in code editor and browser, and can quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. Unlike traditional automatic programming tools, Devin can not only perform tasks mechanically but also understand complex programming contexts and actively adjust solutions according to specific needs.

Devin’s skills include:

  • Quickly master new technologies: Devin can quickly master unfamiliar tools and frameworks simply by reading the documentation.

  • Develop end-to-end applications: Build and deploy fully functional web applications, incrementally adding features based on user feedback.

  • Automating Bug Finding: Devin excels at identifying, debugging, and fixing code issues while contributing to open-source and production-level software repositories.

  • AI training: Build and fine-tune large language models using instructions from research repositories.
