Emmanuel Wanyonyi, a 20-year-old Kenyan athlete, has won the gold medal in the men’s 800m final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He set a personal best time of 1:41.19, making him the third fastest man ever in the 800m.
This victory marks Kenya’s fifth consecutive gold medal in the men’s 800m at the Olympics.
The race also saw four men break the 1:42 barrier for the first time in the same 800m event, with Marco Arop of Canada winning silver and setting a new Canadian record, and Bryce Hoppel of the USA breaking the American record to finish fourth.
