Ex-Calabar South Ag. Chairman is dead

Former Acting Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Area, Ndabu (Hon.) Robert Hogan is dead.

Hogan served as Vice Chairman of the local government under the late Chairman, Hon. Esther Bassey, before ascending to acting position until the elapsed of the tenure.

CONVERSEER gathered that Hogan died of a brief illness in the early hours of Saturday, 24th August 2024.

According to CrossRiverWatch, he was said to have had a Blood Pressure (BP) spike when he returned from consultations on Friday night. He was then rushed to Asiukpo Medical Centre in Calabar, where he passed on.

Recall that the then Calabar South Chairman, Hon. Esther Bassey, slumped and died on 24th February 2023.

Hon. Hogan who was then Vice Chairman under Bassey, took over and finished the tenure.

Mourning Robert Hogan, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar, Cross River State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the state had lost a political gem.

In a statement signed by Hon. Emmanuel Edem Inyang, Cross River State APC Publicity Secretary, on Sunday, Eba said, “Ndabu Hogan’s sudden death has no doubts created a big vacuum in our hearts and in the very structure of our party both in the Local Government Area and the State. He was not just a seasoned politician but a very dedicated party leader whose Contributions to All Progressives Congress were priceless.

“His tenure as the Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Area was marked by unprecedented leadership quality and commitment to the ideals of our party. His comportment and wealth of political experience made him an outstanding person within our party and the State

“During his tenure as a Vice Chairman to the Late Chairman of Calabar South LGA, Mrs Esther Bassey, he was not only a dependable ally but also a dedicated Subordinate who discharged his assigned duties diligently and faithfully. His contributions towards the successes of our party in the just concluded General Elections in Calabar South and Cross River State are inestimable.

“His legacy of hard work, devotion and quality leadership during his tenure as the Chairman will be remembered by all who were privileged to work with him.
