Thugs suspected to be acting at the instance of Calabar South Council Authority have allegedly beaten to comma a petty trader in Calabar, Cross River State capital.
CONVERSEER gathered that victim identified as Mr Chinedu Igwe, who is the Vice Chairman of Petty Traders Association was attacked by the suspected thugs on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the Shopping Center Complex, Watt Market, Calabar.
According to Negroid Haven, the suspected thugs were sent by the Calabar South Local Government Authority to eject petty traders in a matter that is already in court.
“This is happening now in Shopping Center as the local government has decided to use area boys to eject petty traders, for matters that are already in court”, the paper quoted a source saying.
Recall that last year, there was a brawl between traders in the said Shopping Complex and the Execution Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Council, Hon. Esther Bassey, over levy collection.
